The 'Adobo' Festival is an annual festivity celebrated by mainstream audiences of people from all walks of life. 'Adobo' is the tagalog translation of marinated pork cooked with garlic, pepper, laurel leaves and a concoction of soy sauce and vinegar. It's a well-known dish in the Filipino community eaten with rice.

         Festival founder and organizer, JS Camins Productions, is a company with a proven track record in producing full packed Filipino Concerts in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area since 1998.

         How it all started? In 2006, Joey Camins, founder and chief operating officer of the 'Adobo' Festival was then scouting for a new office around Burlingame, California. The owner of the building offices, when asked for vacancies knowing that Mr. Camins is a Filipino said, " Oh, Filipino? Then, we will get the chance to smell 'adobo' around the building again."

         Why not! If the Spanish holds the ' Tamales' Festival, and if there is 'Asparagus' and 'Garlic' Festival,  why not 'Adobo' Festival for everyone. This gave birth to the idea of creating the 'Adobo' Festival. As compared with other cultures, Mr. Camins thought of creating a unique festivity for not only Filipino's but gathering varied audiences as well for the annual celebration.

         JS Camins Productions conceptualized a unique approach to hold the festival by going around places in the Bay Area, instead of doing the annual festivity in one same location. This is represented by the 'Adobo' Festival logo, the 'Vinta' - that stands for touring or traveling around, where it originated in Zamboanga (South of Philippines), primarily used to travel from one island to another for spice trade or barter of goods and services during the Spanish occupation in the country.

         Fourteen years ago, the Filipino-Americans all over the U.S. celebrated the centennial-- the "100 Years of Fil-Am Migration to the U.S." As part of the celebration, 'Adobo' Festival was unanimously endorsed by the Bay Area Fil-Am Centennial Committee, thus, it officially became an annual event.

         The 'Adobo' Festival stands unique among other festivities. As such, it is the only Fil-Am Festival that combines Filipino Food and Music as entertainment. To cap it all, this is the only Fil-Am Festival reaching out to different communities. It started in the Peninsula (Daly City) far-reaching the East Bay (Newark, Union City) and South Bay (San Jose) then Stockton, Sacramento, Vallejo, Milpitas and this year sailing to Martinez and due to public demand, returning to Union City.

         As our annual celebration comes to a close, to kick off 2019, we will hold the festival this year in Milpitas California on August 3 & 4, 2019.
